Name; Kochou Mari ((Y'know, surname first, first name second...? Yeah.))
Age; Appears to be about sixteen or seventeen
Gender; Female
Race; Shinigami
For Shinigami Only
Squad; Squad 2, of course!
Rank; 7th Seat
Appearance; Mari's pretty short, standing at about four foot nine, with short, reddish brown hair that falls over half of her face, covering one of her dark green eyes. She is dressed in a shihakusho, and wears a small butterfly hairpin on the sash around her waist. She almost always has her trademark confident smile on her face, but that can turn into an ecstatic squeal whenever Soi Fon talks to her. She wears her zanpakutou on her back, and has tied a thin red ribbon around the top of the sheath for decoration.
Likes; Soi Fon--She is practically obsessed with her captain, to the point of just tackling her every time she sees her. She tends to refer to her captain as 'Soi-chan' and her 'little bumblebee' whenever they happen to be alone.
Fighting--Mari's always loved a good battle, even if she does end up losing.
Stargazing--Well, you have to have something to do when you're stuck in the dark all day...night...whatever...
Butterflies--Her whole zanpakuto is focused around butterflies! How can she not like them?
Water--Mari loves swimming, most of all, especially after a tiresome day of work.
Dislikes; Yoruichi--After she heard what that Damned woman had done to her beloved Soi Fon, she couldn't help but despise her.
Being alone--Unless she's alone with Soi Fon, of course.
Fire--After almost being burned to death as a child, Mari's shied away from fires.
Huge crowds--Mari has always been uncomfortable in large crowds. She claims that they're too loud.
Personality; Mari seems to have multiple personalities. Whenever she's alone (and her captain isn't around), she seems to be like a lost puppy, just aimlessly wandering around, occasionally comically whimpering like a puppy. However, if someone appears, she may be a tad skeptical about who they are, but will trust them, considering that being with someone is better than being alone (in her book, it is).
If she's around her captain (and others are about), she'll become like a crazed sugar-high fangirl. She'll chase after Soi Fon, trying to tackle her (she never seems to be able to), and will even trust people if they tell her Soi Fon is somewhere. As in, if someone told her that her captain would be waiting for her underneath the waterfall, she'd get over there as fast as she could.
However, whenever she's with Soi Fon and they're alone, Mari turns into a whole different animal (not literally). She'll be all over her captain, but not in a fangirly way, oh, no. More like a seductive lover. I'll just leave it at that...
History; Mari was born to a lesser noble family, the Kochou family, and was raised to know three things. One, if she went under a captain, she needed to show him or her the utmost respect, because she was lesser than them. Two, if she did become a captain, she was to be fair to them and not be outrageously mean or nice. And three, not to be amorous with her captain, because that only led to disaster.
Well, Mari could keep up the first one, she knew the second one would probably never happen, and...well, for the third one?
She conveniently forgot about that one.
From the first time she saw her captian, she was in love. Though Soi Fon may not have been the most attractive, or have the best personality, something about her...it just made Mari, lightly put, fall in love with her. Taking the first piece of advice her parents gave her, to respect her captain, she gave Soi Fon the utmost respect, but wasn't really noticed all that much. The second one, she forgot about when she joined the squad, and the third...well, she couldn't help but be simply lovestruck.
After about twenty years under Soi Fon's teachings, she was promoted from simply being a member of Squad 2, to actually getting a seat! It was only the 7th seat, but it was a seat all the same! Oh, how her parents would have been proud of her...
It's been about four years since she's become the 7th seat, and, when she heard about her going to this new place to do recon, Mari was absolutely overjoyed...until the hole closed up. Now what will she do?
Well...at least she's with Soi-chan~
Other Information; Mari's unreleased zanpakuto, Akachou, or Red Butterfly, takes the form of a katana with a red and black hilt. The release command is 'Teiyoku chuuniuku' ('Float Gracefully'), and when she releases it, the hilt remains the same, but the blade stretches out and becomes a bright red chain-like whip and the guard becomes butterfly-shaped. Mari's zanpakuto, when in whip form, can stretch out to great lengths and entangle an opponent. However, she only has enough reiatsu to keep her whip stretched out for about two minutes, so she only uses it when she absolutely needs to. When Akachou wraps around or pierces an opponent, it stuns them for about two minutes. She has also achieved Ban-kai (though she doesn't wish for anyone to know). Her Ban-kai, Akachou Nishiki, or Red Butterfly Harlequin, is a long chain held between a pair of butterflies, one black, one red. Her Ban-kai release command is 'Chimamire no Akumu o Saku' ('Bloom, Bloodstained Nightmares'). In Ban-kai, piercing or wrapping the chain around an opponent will still stun them, but the effect lasts about twice as long.
